Chilas lasers use advanced hybrid-integration laser technology. The design includes an InP reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) as the gain medium, paired with a Si3N4 waveguide circuit that acts as the external cavity. The RSOA is connected to the external cavity at its edge. Inside the cavity, two micro-ring resonators (MRRs) with slightly different free spectral ranges (FSR) work together to ensure stable single-frequency operation through the Vernier effect.
