Introduction

The OTH-7000 is a compact, scalable, and cost-effective unit designed for the central office and is used with EXFO's fibre monitoring system (FMS). It is ideal for point-to-point link testing and monitoring.

  • iOLM Mode: The OTH-7000 utilizes EXFO's renowned iOLM mode, which allows for the monitoring and characterization of P2P networks. It provides a central management view and functions. With automated, expert-level fibre testing, there is no need for manual configuration of parameters or analysis and interpretation of multiple complex OTDR traces.
  • Structured Data: The iOLM algorithm discovers elements on the fibre and tests them against pass/fail criteria. Loss/reflectance and distance values are included in the same structured data.
  • Single-Test Baselining and On-Demand Testing: iOLM mode provides single-test baselining and on-demand testing for fault analysis. It allows users to see deviations and an iconic view. Additionally, users can view and extract each single-pulse OTDR trace as part of the iOLM measurement. Expert-level testing and diagnosis can be achieved by specifying a golden trace among the test sequence.
  • Integrated OTDR Module and Optical Switch: The OTH-7000 is equipped with an embedded OTDR module and an optical switch, making it the smallest footprint (1⁄2 U rackmount space) optical test head available. The EXFO 1650 nm OTDR module is ideal for dark and active monitoring of P2P links.
  • Durable Performance: With its MEMS-based design, the OTH-7000 delivers durable performance in a compact package. It has a fast switching time and a 1-billion-cycle lifetime expectancy, making it ideal for the demanding needs of production testing and monitoring applications.
  • Compatibility: The OTH-7000 is available for single-mode fibres with a choice of 1, 4, or 16-port optical switch.

The EXFO OTH-7000, powered by advanced iOLM technology, is purpose-built for FTTx rollouts and fibre monitoring.

Compact and scalable

The OTH-7000 boasts the industry's most compact design—up to 64 ports in a ½ RU form factor. To increase capacity, ½ RU optical switch modules (with up to 256 ports) can be added. For combining with live traffic, a ½ RU test access module kit (with up to 64 channels) is available.

Clever design for COs and cabinets

Deploying, monitoring, activating or troubleshooting PON has never been easier, thanks to EXFO's Fibre Management System (FMS) user interface or mobile app. With just 10W power consumption, no internal fan and an optional SFP port for Ethernet communications, this unit is ideal for central offices or cabinets.

Cost-effective

EXFO's innovative iOLM technology in a compact footprint reduces CAPEX by enabling centralised testing. It also cuts down OPEX through remote network testing, monitoring and troubleshooting capabilities, resulting in fewer truck rolls.

  • P2P link certification: Qualify and certify fibre during buildout and activation with iOLM's schematic view, powered by advanced multipulse reflectometry. This automated, expert-level testing eliminates manual parameter configuration or complex OTDR trace analysis. The algorithm discovers fibre elements and displays pass/fail results, with loss/reflectance and distance values in one click.
  • Advanced analytics: When monitoring fibre, users can leverage our remote fibre monitoring system's advanced analytics, including customisable dashboards and trending KPI metrics. Stay ahead of issues before they become problems.
  • Fault analysis and troubleshooting: Offering single-test baselining, monitoring and on-demand testing for fault analysis, iOLM mode clearly identifies customer-impacting events. Combined with the RFTM mobile app and GIS software, it maps and delivers a clear event analysis, guiding technicians towards quick fault resolution and reducing MTTR.
  • Seamless integration with third-party solutions: The FMS supporting OTH-7000 integrates easily with third-party applications and workflows. GIS information can be extracted from FMS's GIS database through open APIs or via third-party solutions. FMS APIs offer the same functionalities as the FMS web console and mobile app.

Instead of FMS control, the OTH-7000 can be configured for direct control by your network management system (NMS) via open REST APIs on the unit. Integrate the OTH-7000 Client API into your corporate system to store OTDR measurements, perform analysis operations like fibre loss calculations or create configuration files and templates for fibre breaks and degradations.
