DiCon, exclusively for EXFO, manufactures the MXS-9200 MEMS optical switch. This stand-alone rack-mountable chassis is available in configurations from 1U to 3U, supporting up to 64x64 and larger chassis with up to 192x192 ports and beyond.
The MXS-9200 enhanced platform utilises DiCon Fiberoptics’ industry-proven MEMS optical switch technology. It reliably connects input and output ports for a wide range of test and measurement applications. The MXS-9200 is available with either non-blocking MxN matrix switches or an array of blocking 1xN optical switches. It is the industry standard for sharing centralised instruments or automated testing on multiple devices during development, qualification, and production testing.
The MXS-9200 switch components are produced using DiCon’s latest generation of proprietary and proven MEMS tilting-mirror technology. This 3D MEMS Matrix Switch platform has been built into millions of components for the optical networking industry and boasts a 20+ years of field deployment record. These switches are extremely stable and can operate under open-loop conditions. They offer the best-in-class durability, repeatability, and optical performance, suitable for demanding applications such as quantum communications and computing.
The MXS-9200’s remote-control capabilities, enabled by fast SCPI over Ethernet, make it ideal for sharing high-cost centralised instruments. It allows scaling up qualification and manufacturing testing on multiple devices and other automated tests in manufacturing environments.
The MXS-9200 matrix switches reliably align with extremely low power levels, making it ideal for tests spanning a wide range of power levels, such as transceiver sensitivity testing. It provides a clean and stable optical path regardless of the configuration, eliminating signal instabilities, dithering, and internal interference along the optical path during optical transmission testing.
The MXS-9200 series is particularly well-suited for testing a wide range of today’s high-speed optical transceivers at all stages of development and manufacturing.
