According to federal law in Australia, any hand-held, battery operated laser with a power emmission above 1mW is considered a dangerous weapon, and written consent must be obtained prior to possessing/importing such a laser pointer.
Unless otherwise stated, the Visual Fault Locators and other handheld laser devices sold by AusOptic are fully compliant with the 1mW output limits and do not require a permit to carry.

Description — goods supplied by AusOptic or a retail supplier of AusOptic products must match the description provided by AusOptic or the retail supplier.
Sample — goods supplied by AusOptic or a retail supplier of AusOptic products must match any sample shown to you by AusOptic or the retail supplier.
Title — a consumer who purchases a good from AusOptic or a retail supplier of AusOptic products must receive clear title to the good.
Due care and skill — services provided to you by AusOptic must be provided with due care and skill.
Additional warranties purchased — AusOptic will be legally required to comply with any additional warranties provided, as per their agreed terms and conditions.
Reasonable time — repair services provided by AusOptic must be provided within a reasonable time.
