AusOptic founded by Kevin Ledley

The company’s first office was opened in Seven Hills, NSW, Australia

1996

Established the forte® equipment brand

Designed, manufactured and exclusively distributed by AusOptic

The name forte® is derived from “fibre optic rack and termination equipment”

1998 - 2005

Supply contract for Telstra Corporation Ltd

Contracted to supply 350+ FITEL S175 Fusion Splicers into Telstra including dedicated, fast-turnaround service contract, plus training and support around Australia for remote engineers

Further investment in AusOptic equipment service facilities, engineer training at FITEL in Japan

Telstra extended the yearly service contract with AusOptic for 11 years

2007

Established the ARAPALA® test equipment brand

The ARAPALA® line of fibre optic test equipment is designed, manufactured and exclusively distributed by AusOptic International

2008

Project for BAE Systems Australia

Cisco media conversion application customised to Defence requirements

Work completed as part of Defence force frigate upgrade

2010

AusOptic Head Office relocated to Lane Cove

In 2010 the head office relocated to Lane Cove, NSW – 12km outside the Sydney CBD

Project for Cisco Systems Australia Pty Ltd

Designed specialised FTTX solution for Cisco hardware Equipment compatibility tested and passed at Cisco labs in Victoria

Project for Australian Securities Exchange Ltd (ASX)

Designed and delivered a customised low-latency full-spectrum CWDM network with DWDM overlay

2012 - 2016

Test equipment for the ASC AWD Project

Provided ultra-high resolution Luna Optical Backscatter Reflectometer (OBR) for the Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) shipbuilder ASC.

Opto-mechanical component supply for CSIRO

Opto-mechanical component supply to the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), in partnership with Opto-Sigma, Japan.

Optical test equipment for DST Group

Consulted and supplied passive components, test and measurement equipment for various Defence Science and Technology (DSTO) Group projects (3SAE, Luna, OptoSigma and Anritsu) within the Australian Government's Department of Defence.

Provided Optical Distributed Sensor Interrogator solutions in partnership with Luna, USA.

Designed and delivered DWDM solution including long-range SFP+ and DWDM Mux/Demux equipment

Project for TasNetworks / Aurora Energy Pty Ltd

Designed and delivered local and interstate CWDM communications link between Tasmania and Victoria on behalf of Anittel Pty Ltd

Project for Telstra Corporation Ltd

Designed solution for running OC3 over existing MM fibre between exchanges 5km apart

Supplied media conversion and transceiver solution for underwater vehicle video and communications link

Provided Optical Vector Analyser from Luna, and supplied passive fibre components to the required specification.
